A Pioneer in Moistureproofing Management for the Mounting Industry
ERC is a pioneer in gIC package moistureproofing management" in the chip mounting industry and a company that has specialized in the manufacture and sales of storage cabinets. ERC began selling McDry products (storage cabinets for controlling moisture levels in IC packages) to the chip mounting industry in 1990. Only by storing IC packages and LEDs in a storage cabinet at a humidity of 5% RH or less as stipulated by IPC/JEDEC can complete moistureproofing be achieved.
This means that the floor life (the permitted time that the item can be exposed to the outside air after its moisture barrier bag has been opened) is unlimited and micro-cracking during reflow can be reduced to zero. The storage cabinets also allow products to be stowed away and taken out easily by simply opening the door.


@Low-humidity storage for IC packages, LEDs, PCBs and electronic components
1. McDry cabinets manage IC packages and LEDs at low humidity levels after their moisture barrier bags have been opened so that micro-cracking during reflow is reduced to zero. PCBs are also managed at low humidity levels to prevent delamination and measling as well as oxidation of the PCB surface.
The IPC-1601 standard stipulates that PCBs be managed at a control humidity of 10% RH or less.
2. McDry cabinets are also ideal for storing electronic components other than IC packages, LEDs and PCBs, such as quartz crystals, CCDs and microlenses. Electronic components such as capacitors and connectors can also be damaged by heat during reflow soldering if they absorb moisture. So they also should be managed at low humidity in the same way as IC packages. Also, managing electronic components at low humidity levels of 5% RH or less prevents pin oxidation and ensures excellent solder wetting.

@Long-term storage of repair components (IC packages, LEDs, PCBs, etc.)
When IC packages are managed at a humidity of 5% RH or less, their floor life is unlimited.
So McDry cabinets are ideal for storing repair products (IC packages, PCBs, etc.) that must be stored for long periods.

McDry storage cabinets are ideal for preventing corrosion in machined products and for powders and films that require low-humidity storage.
Ultra-low-humidity storage cabinets are especially well suited to the long-term storage of automotive machined products. To completely prevent rusting, storage cabinet management at a humidity of 5% RH or less is essential.


@Earthquake-proofing
As an earthquake-proofing measure, the doors on McDry cabinets (HM, SPU, DXU and MC types) lock with a single touch. This means that the doors will never open and products will never fly out of the cabinet no matter what sort of earthquake hits.
